Event Details

The American Association for the Advancement of Science invites you to Images of Our Solar System: Science Meets Art where we will be exploring celestial bodies in our solar system with the help of beautiful imagery.

Wednesday, 27 March 2013 5:30-8:30pm

The event is presented in conjunction with Michael Benson’s Planetfall, a new book and associated exhibit of images of the Sun, Earth and other planets, planetary satellites, asteroids and other objects produced using data from several NASA missions. Planetfall is on display in the AAAS Art Gallery through 28 June. The discussion will include Michael Benson, describing the process by which he creates the images, and Nancy Chabot, a planetary geologist from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory discussing how she uses image data to study planetary surfaces and geological processes. The discussion will be followed by a reception and an opportunity to view the Planetfall exhibit.

With generous support from the NASA Federal Credit Union, Verizon Foundation, and AAAS Education and Human Resources Flexible Action Fund.
